DIY
Okay, I noticed recently that quite a few people are searching the website for schematics and DIY tips on building their own pedals. Well you asked for it, DirtBox delivers!
I am pretty new to the world of DIY stompboxes myself but in this section I will attempt to pass on the limited knowledge I have, which should be ideal for a beginner. Do not expect tutorials of full amp builds or anything like that, who knows, in a few years time I might be able to offer this kind of thing, but for now this will be very much simple projects built either directly in an enclosure (such as A/B switchers) or simple veroboard projects like some fuzz boxes or something.
Stay tuned for some content coming soon!
King Of The Tubes
Ibanez have just released a brand new pedal into their range of Tube King pedals, The TK999OD! After the great popularity of the original Tube King Distortion it was only a matter of time (albeit a lone time!) before Ibanez released an Overdrive version. First impressions are good! Info in the information area.
Tim, Timmy!
After putting it off since the opening of the website (due to the great lack of information out there regarding these pedals) I have finally decided to add what I can regarding Paul Cochrane’s Tim and Timmy pedals. I recently contacted Paul to add my name to the waiting list for a Timmy, so hopefully in around six months time or so I can give it a full feature review and clear up some urban myths about this elusive little box. Until then though go and whet your appetites by reading the information about it, and checking out the mighty reviews and acclaim it receives elsewhere on the net.
FX Schematics
I am noticing a lot of people are searching for schematics of various pedals in the search bar at Dirt Box. Dirt Box is not a site that hosts schematics. At the moment Dirt Box is tailored to providing information, reviews, and tips on all things dirty and distorty and not a hub for DIY effects as such. If this is something you would like to see at Dirt Box then get in touch and let me know either by contacting me directly or by posting in our forum.
I have several schematics and veroboard layouts that I have drawn and if there is demand I may put them online and start a sub-section of the site for this kind of thing, but I will not host other people’s schematics as this can be getting into murky waters with legal obligations and stuff that I just do not understand.
Let me know what you think.
